REMUED VASE - Twig Handle

Remued Vase-Twig HandleBefore I sold my collection of Australian pottery I had several pieces made by PREMIER POTTERY PRESTON, as was the REMUED vase illustrated here.

Some pieces were marked REMUED, whilst some earlier were marked 'P.P.P.' within a circle, not to be confused with PPP sometimes printed on Pates Pottery items. This vase with its lovely twig handle was made in or after 1934, when the name REMUED first appeared.

Marked on base - Remued 303The potting process was quite unique, often using cleverly press-moulded bodies, to which hand modelled gumnut, gumleaf or twig handles were attached, and glazed with richly coloured free-flowing glazes.

This example was 5½ inches high and 7½ inches diameter.

Reg Hawkins was one of the founding partners and he married Nonie Deumer in 1933. DEUMER spelled backwards becomes REMUED.
