Home Poetry POETRY
I was fortunate to have an English teacher who introduced me to some wonderful poetry before I was 13 years old.
My school was only about a mile from 'Pope's Monument', which was in the grounds of Prior Park, near Bath in Somerset. Alexander Pope wrote much of his poetry in the so-called Monument, which was in fact a summer house.
I wrote quite a lot of poetry, probably described as 'doggerel', but I leave you to be the judge ! I also have some examples by my late brother, Dr. Bernard Watney, whilst he was at Cambridge during the war.
