In the 1960's I often walked down a steep track near our restaurant in Portelet Bay and would sit on a ledge and write poetry.
MOONLIGHT INTERLUDE
Bright moonlight mirrored on a tranquil sea
by soundless waves is lapped towards the shore.
The headland still and quiet as it could be
seems nearer than it's ever been before.
The silver light, the peace, the solitude combine
to make the night almost untrue,
Between the scenes of life this interlude is solace
captured only by a few.
One of those few I'm fortunate to be, to witness
and enjoy this mystic sight,
To see the mighty and relentless sea, so beautiful
so calm this summer's night.
